Venticool – the international platform for ventilative cooling

This platform was launched in October 2012. Ventilative cooling is application of ventilation flow rates to reduce the cooling loads in buildings. It utilizes the cooling and thermal perception potential of outdoor air. The air driving force can be natural, mechanical or a combination. The platform supports better guidance for the appropriate implementation of ventilative cooling strategies as well as adequate credit for such strategies in building regulations. ES-SO as a supporting partner attended the workshop on ventilative cooling held in Brussels, 19-20 March 2013 within the framework of the IEA – Intelligence Energy Agency annex 62 project. Natural (night) cooling and solar shading both are means of passive cool solutions to avoid overheating in buildings.
