CO2 reduction, keeping a natural cool and free solar heat

Concern for the environment and for the ever more pressing signs of climate change means that the carbon emissions must be reduced drastically. Moreover, overheating becomes a challenging problem due to changing building construction.  ES-SO’s studies demonstrated that EU countries could contribute a massive reduction of carbon emissions, if blinds and shutters were used on only half or more of all the buildings, through a substantial reduction of the demand for cooling and, yes, also through a heating energy demand reduction. Because smart shading can help bring in free solar heat in winter when it’s welcome. That helps reduce the use of fossil fuels, the source of most of the CO2 emissions. Read more
